Mixing it up, Lady Pattern Paper and Kaisercraft

Mixing it up again this time around and still very much in love with the Kaisercraft Magenta paper range for its pretty flowers, and Lady Pattern Paper for its basic essentials paper that works with anything.

A spunky layout filled with personality, colour and charm yet grounded – just like my beautiful niece. This is a fun layout, with all the elements that I love thrown together.
I started by adding some colour to my background paper used.
Mix tuxedo black and Paris Dusk Memento ink on a plastic packet. Then mist the ink with water until it forms coloured drops. Lift the packet and stamp the colour onto the background. Make sure some colour will be visible from behind your photo and elements. Leave to dry.
Adhere the patterned background to a sheet of cardstock to firm it up
Adhere the pink card cut from the bonus sheet from the Essentials V3 pack. Then adhere your photo, followed by the tag, flowers and other elements
Finish off your layout with some embellishments, brads and ink splats.
A quick and colourful layout perfect for any occasion, young and old. Just have fun with it – and don’t forget to mix those gorgeous paper ranges together for a unique look

Project Life – Real Life Memory Keeper

Project Life or Pocket scrapping is all about real life – the photos we take daily as a quick reminder of what happened in the here and now. It’s made for those impromptu snaps and imperfect moments we want to remember, for cellphone photos and its made for me and you!

it fits into my daily routine as it has now rules and its all about what I like and love. This is me.
For years I have tried to convince people about the specialness of Project Life and only now in the last year or two have they come around, seeing what I am seeing and realizing the value of these everyday moments. No matter how you approach Project Life – make it meaningful and true to you. This is not fake or perfect memory keeping – this is the raw uncut version of life.
In the pockets we make our own cards, adding creativity and handmade touches – still answering the creative call and living our best lives through it.
It’s about celebrating our loved ones – perfect and imperfect.
its about those little moments that our breath away – the things we want to hold onto most of all.
That is Project Life.

Project Life Scrapbooking – why it makes sense

I love Project Life Scrapbooking – when i first heard about it i was totally sold on it. It just makes so much sense.
It has taken years to convey my passion for it, and to ignite the fire in others, but I happy to say I have manged to do it!
But why? For some one like me the everyday little things really are the big thing – and simply put thats why.20190504 sneak peak JNPL

It’s not about the huge things, the dressed up special occasions where you compete with the Jones’s. It’s the real hard core good, bad and ugly things that count.
And those are memories that we all have. Its the dressed up fake lets pose for a happy family photo that doesn’t make sense. But this, this is what its really like in my life.
Its the story that when someone looks at my album, they can relate to me, know the real me – not the one that puts on a brave face everyday to portray something false to the world.

20190504 PL Spread 1

Yes its raw, and maybe a bit too honest for some people, but its real. Its where my hopes and dreams and special moments are captured right alongside the sadness of real life.

20190504 PL Spread 2

Each month I do a project life class at Short Cuts craft, and each month I see how more and more people get it – how you can add loads of photos into an album,

But where you also have permission to tell the real life behind the masks (scenes) stories of your heart.

My story matters if only to me – that’s all that counts. And this is the way I love telling it.
Will it ever replace my normal scrapping – heck no – its an extension of my art and memory keeping – and I love it all!

Mixed Media Layout with Jowilna – Couture Creations.

I am sharing this layout using some of the gorgeous dies available combined with the versatile Le Petit Jardin paper range. With the new range of Modern essentials dies its easy to add beautiful details to any project. And that’s exactly what I did with this layout. I used my die-cuts to frame the photo on one side and the Le Petit Jardin Ephemera on the other side – this way I am placing the focus on my photo which is ultimately the most important part of telling the story.sweetlayout_JN

I used the Le Petit Jardin dies, corner and flourish cut out of blue cardstock for my layout. The 2 x corner cuts was used to frame the photo on the right hand side.

detail5

The flourish die-cut was grouped together with some ephemera elements on the left hand side of the layout.
detail8To add colour to my layout I used watercolour paint to splat colour onto the background. The colours picked were found in my photo. I love how it makes the layout bright and fun, and together with the paper also a bit grown up.
detail4This range is truly versatile and I like adding colour to it. The colours added to this layout makes for a fun and youthful project.
The donuts sticker used makes further adds to the accent colours used and is a fun addition to an otherwise serious layout.

Until next time – have fun using your die-cuts on your projects – adding texture and pattern. But above all have fun!

Hide and Seek layered Layout by Jowilna Nolte

Welcome to today’s blog post. Are you loving the new ranges this month as much as we do?
Today I am sharing a fun layout with you using the Hide and Seek range… perfect for those little people in our lives.
Apart from the cute little critters I am simply in love with the beautiful color palette of this range.JN_myboy_layout

I really wanted to include some of the beautiful feathers from the range into my layout, but the stamp set was a bit small.
So I used a feather image from the internet (free) and printed it onto vellum in grey ink on my inkjet printer.
Immediately as it came out the printer and while the ink is still wet I add white embossing powder and heat it with my hat gun for  a beautifully embossed feather.

Elements from my collectables pack create a beautiful cluster combined with stamping in navy blue.

JN_detail4

Extra cut out animals line the bottom edge of the background keeping the bear company.

JN_detail5

I used foam tape to raise some of the cut out elements and leaves for dimension. Tucked underneath the cluster of leaves is some thread.

I used my Fireworks sprays from Imagine mixed into texture paste and stenciled through a dot stencil to achieve the coloured dots.
This is part of solving the case and also using some of my favorite products and techniques.
Will you play along this month?

Decorative Dies on a layout for Kaisercraft.

This week on the Kaisercraft blog we are using Decorative Dies on projects – I love these textured dies for various reasons. But I think their simplicity is the best thing about them.
You can dress them up or keep things simple like I did this time.
I had a piece of white cardstock with some ink stains on it and used that to cut the Textured Brickwork die out of the inked parts.
This created an interesting effect, that is instant and beautiful.KC_JN_DD_layout
The butterfly stamped on acetate was folded in half and attached using a brad.

KC_JN_DD_detail3

The background has some gorgeous blue pattern on it created using Infusions. Such a beautiful and unexpected effect that I love with this pink and green paper combo.

Coloured paint splats in shades of pink, green, blue and black pull everything together.
And of late I am really loving this simplistic style of scrapping – Perfect for creativity and using up my odd stash of embellishments.

Creating a Sticker mat behind a photo – Kaisercraft.

On the Kaisercraft blog today I am sharing this layout using stickers – and lots of them.
I love the sticker sheets with each range, but I don’t use them nearly enough. This month I am on a mission to try and use my stickers in creative ways
on my layouts and cards. And in fact I have managed to use almost every single sticker from my sheets -mission accomplished.thankful_layout_Fleur_JN

Create a Dazzling Raspberry Red Scrapbook Layout.

Don’t you just love red, and with the month of love we are celebrating raspberry red with loads of repetition. I created this shimmering layout using tons of red ink and then added a few splashes of other color for some fun contrast. Take a look at how I created the fun shimmering elements, stamped with the amazing new raspberry red shaded Glamorous VersaFine Clair and had fun with repeating elements in my design.

Step 1 – Add a small amount of Creative Shimmer onto your Craft Mat. Add a few drops of dye inkers to the medium. I added 2 colors of red.

2018_Feb_JN_red_step1

Step 2 – Mix the inker into the paste really well using your palette knife until the paste is fully colored.

2018_Feb_JN_red_step2

Step 3 – Apply the colored paste through a stencil onto craft paper and leave to dry. The creative medium dries really fast and has a stunning shimmer.

2018_Feb_JN_red_step3

step 4 – Use the same inkers to color a piece of smooth white cardstock. Drop a few drops onto the cardstock and mist with water.
2018_Feb_JN_red_step4

Step 5 – Apply some of the colored paste onto the colored cardstock using the same square stencil.

step 6 – Color a sheet of white cardstock with the same red inkers. Once dry stamp some images onto the background using VersaFine Clair Glamorous.2018_Feb_JN_step6

step 7 – Add random color splats using Fireworks sprays to add color to the background. Cut out flowers from patterned papers and adhere them. Then stamp some random text in the background using VersaFine Clair.

step 8 – Use VersaFine Clair Pinecone and stencil some dots onto the background. Then adhere your photo. Cut stenciled squares with a beautiful shimmer from the papers and adhere to the layout. Add diamanté to finish off.

Kaisercraft Documented Layout with hints of colour by Jowilna Nolte

Hi everyone, Jowilna here on the blog today sharing a Documented layout with a hint of colour. I simply love this range but wanted to add a touch of colour.

detail4_JN

I started off creating my mixed media inked background using re-inkers.
The effect left a hint of cream, yellow, a beautiful grey and even some blue and green colours visible once the ink had dried.

love this layout_JN

A variety of Collectables elements added the yellow tones and for the blue/green I added some scrunched up thread under my photo.
This multicoloured thread gave me the interest and hint of colour I craved.

detail3_JN

detail1_JN

A couple of coloured splats offers the accent colours support and makes for a nice detail.

detail6_JN

Mini Typography stenciled detail works well on the background. I could have added the stenciled details in a colour come to think of it.
It just shows you how versatile this range is – perfect for everyday moments, school days, vintage, heritage and boys.
