Pages and Pages of Love | Imagine Fireworks Spray

posted in: Art Journaling, Techniques | 0

During February, the month of love we celebrated Love with pink and gold using the fabulous Imagine products. Here is one of the projects I created using Fireworks Spray. The shimmer is amazing and I absolutely love it.
I mixed two different colors of Fireworks sprays onto a craft mat then dipped a sheet of graph or patterned paper into the mix. It is cool how the shimmer from the two different colors blend. She then assembled the journal page by adding an embossed die-cut heart, ribbon and a decorative hat element using a brad. Bind into your art journal or use it for a gift.2017_February_JN_HeartofGold_Main

Embossing – Jowilna 101

Did you know that you could mix embossing powders together for a custom colour?
Did you know that you can colour your white and clear embossing powders?

Embossing is one of my favourite techniques – it is always magical and looks amazing. Today I am sharing a quick favourite of how to spice up your plain embossed projects.

Inspired by colour of the year 2017

colour of the year trend

I like to mix my own colours of embossing powders and to create a custom look. So that’s what I did while being inspired by the green trend of the colour of the year 2017
step 1 – Add a single drop of All Purpose Ink into some white embossing powder.

step1

step 2 – Mix the colour well into the powder and leave to dry overnight.
step2

Sprinkle of this green embossing powder directly onto your project while still damp. Then heat the clumps of wet embossing powder to melt into puddles on your project for a fun look.

step 3 – Grab some additional green embossing powders. I was inspired by the image (trend swatch) to find my embossing powder colours.

step3

step 4 – Add small amount s of all the colours of powders together in a tub.

step4

step 5 – Mix the colours together really well. Use a container that can close and shake it up to mix.

step5

step 6 – Stamp your image onto white cardstock using VersaMark ink.

step6

step 7 –  Sprinkle with embossing powder, shake off the extras and heat set using your heat gun.

step7

step 8 – Add some plain embossed circles and some mixed embossed circles together on your next project.

step8

I added a variety of embossed circles onto an art journal page.

Hello summer art journal page

posted in: Art Journaling, Techniques | 0

Inspired by the holidays that has sadly come to an end, I created this blue summer themed art journaling page.
The shades of blue and aqua makes the texture pop against a white background.
Take a look at how I created this gorgeous effect.

art-journaling-summer-page
step 1 – Add a background using watercolour paint. Combine 2 or 3 different shades of blue.

step1

step 2 – Stamp summer sentiment images onto smooth white cardstock using Versafine ink.
step2
step 3 – Add color to the stamped images using watercolour paint and leave to dry.
step3
step 4 – Mist a sheet of white cardstock using glimmer mist and leave to dry.
step4
step 5 – Trim the misted sheet of cardstock into random strips. Adhere the strips to your watercolour painted background using gel medium.
Cut some of the misted cardstock into a wave shape. Use a small 5mm hole punch and punch random holes onto the wave shaped strip.
TIP: Keep the punched dots to adhere at a later stage.
step5
step 6 – Adhere the stamped images.
Add a thick layer of Crackle Paint and leave to dry.
step6
Add coloured splats to the finished page, add random stenciling in blue.
2
Add finishing touches using graphite pencils and chalk.
5
Work the crayon into the crackle parts to highlight the cracks.
3
And that finishes off a beautiful study in blue with loads of texture and shapes.
I love the freedom of this random summer themed art journaling page – perfect for a summers day activity.
