Kaisercraft Documented Layout with hints of colour by Jowilna Nolte

Hi everyone, Jowilna here on the blog today sharing a Documented layout with a hint of colour. I simply love this range but wanted to add a touch of colour.

detail4_JN

I started off creating my mixed media inked background using re-inkers.
The effect left a hint of cream, yellow, a beautiful grey and even some blue and green colours visible once the ink had dried.

A variety of Collectables elements added the yellow tones and for the blue/green I added some scrunched up thread under my photo.
This multicoloured thread gave me the interest and hint of colour I craved.

A couple of coloured splats offers the accent colours support and makes for a nice detail.

Mini Typography stenciled detail works well on the background. I could have added the stenciled details in a colour come to think of it.
It just shows you how versatile this range is – perfect for everyday moments, school days, vintage, heritage and boys.

Where there is Love Art Journal page

With the month of love heading our way it’s time start pulling out all those love themed crafting projects.
Today I am sharing some art journaling inspiration using POP Paint and stamps for a bright and love filled spread.detail1

I wanted a fun and happy page with a few key elements and a nice focal point. Not too bright but with the right amount of colour
and I think I achieved exactly what I had in mind.

love valentines art journaling page

step 1 -Dry brush some Burst (orange) POP Paint onto your background in a random fashion.

step1

step 2 – Once the orange is dry, dry brush some Blush POP Paint over it and leave to dry.

step 3 – Trace a heart shape onto your background using a pencil. Use a coloured dye ink spray and remove the nozzle from the bottle
and trace around the heart shape. Leave to dry.

step2

step 4 – Use Onyx POP Paint and some stencils to add details. Lift a small amount of black paint with a sponge dauber and tap off the excess.
Pounce through the stencil design to transfer a thin layer of paint onto your page. Leave to dry.

TIP: The thinner the layer applied the quicker it will dry.

step3

step 5 – Use your fine print stamps and black ink and stamp over your entire page for some added details.

step4

step 6 – Add some stamped heart and sentiment details to finish off your page. Use a white gel pen and draw some details on your page.

step5

POP paint makes for amazing coloured art journaling pages and can be used in a multitude of ways.
What have you done with your POP Paint lately – and what colour combinations have you tried?
The possibilities are endless.

Create a Cute Chocolate Bulldog Watercolored Card – Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko

posted in: Cards, Stamps, Techniques | 0

Who doesn’t love chocolate and dogs? How about a chocolate colored dog? Well, then you are in luck because today’s handmade card project has both. Imagine challenged the Artists in Residence with three topics to choose from –Aubergine Color of the Month, chocolate and ‘What “wood” you do?’. When I saw a chocolate theme, I chose this fun bulldog stamped image and created layers of chocolate watercolored goodness using some of my favorite ink products. To see how I create this fun card head on over to the imagine crafts blog.2017_October_JN_Chocolate_detail1

Chiswick Mixed media cards from a Master-board.

On the Chiswick blog today with some weekend inspiration making mixed media cards using loads of products from Chiswick.
Combining different product is a great way of combining and experimenting with different products and what better way to just to play and have fun.
I combined some POP Paint with the beautiful stamp sets from Chiswick to make these fun cards.

The concept of a Master-board is to create a large sheet of mixed media artwork and then cut it into smaller pieces to use on other art works.
This is how I approached my cards I made.

cards
These smaller pieces used on cards make for beautiful backgrounds and quick cards. And often these pieces look much better than the original piece of art created.
So the moral of the story is to just create – it will look amazing once it is cut down.

step3

Hop on over to the Chiswick blog for a full step x step tutorial on how to create these cards.

All products available from Short Cuts Craft and other craft stores.

These master-boards are great fun to play and experiment with products and designs.
And once they are cut up into smaller pieces they look amazing and become small works of art.
