How to make quick and easy Gentleman’s Emporium Cards

Welcome to today’s blog post with me Jowilna. I finally got my hands on the New Gentleman’s Emporium Range and I love it. I made some quick cards with foiled details, and let me just say that the foiling makes these cards shine even brighter.

I used my patterned papers as a base for my cards, and if you get hold of the 6×6″ paper pads they are simply perfect for making cards – no waste, no mess, no fuss.

For the sentiment on this card I cut a strip of the patterned paper and raise it using foam tape. A few pearls dresses up the card.

For my second card I used some elements from the Collection pack layered on top of a foiled frame. Note how I dropped the frame off the edge of the card for a fun look.

I repeated my use of pearls as embellishments and a few ink splats.

Quick and easy cards for all those men in our lives, but still adding some bling for good measure. Until next time, live creatively!

Bright and Fun Birthday Cards with Joy Clair stamps

How amazing is the new release stamps from Joy Clair Stamps? I simply had to make some fun cards with these stamps – bright and beautiful was at the order of the day.
I had created some fun alcohol inks backgrounds that turned out perfectly for these images.Card1MainJN

My stamped images were colored using markers to achieve the bright and fun colorful look.

detail7

I stamped the sentiment and grouped it layered with some cactus using foam tape.

detail9

For my second card I used only a strip of cactus on a colorful alcohol ink background strip. The strip in the center is framed with some colorful Bazzill Basics cardstock.

Card2Main

The sentiment was stamped and stapled to the top edge of the colorful panel. I added paint splats {yes I love them} to the background  – these pull all the colors used across the card
and adds loads of interest.

A few diamante makes for a nice finishing touch.

I made two cards using this stamp set and then added some other sentiments, once again showing you how versatile the sets are – they simply work together like Coffee and Jesus.

detail1
I used my first stamp set and just stamped the word coffee repeatedly onto my Bazzill Basics cardstock.
Even though this cardstock is textured the amazing Versafine Clair {Tsukienko} ink makes stamping onto it a breeze.
The coffee cup was stamped onto white and coloured using watercolour paint to pick up on the colours in the washi tape {Heidi Swapp} I used.

detail2

For my second card I used a strip of washi tape again to create a base for my stamped sentiment.

Coffee&JesusCard2

After stamping the sentiment just above the washi tape strip, I added some thread scrunched up, and then added another sentiment raise using foam tape.
This sentiment is from the Flowers and Friends Set.

detail5

A few diamante and pearls, and a punched heart {XCut by DoCrafts} covered in washi tape finishes off this card.
{TIP} To create the washi tape heart: add a strip of washi tape to thin white cardstock, then use a heart punch to punch the heart out of the washi taped area. Such a quick way of creating your own embellishments that match the rest of your project.

Make two cards using one stamp

Today on the Joy Clair blog I am sharing 2 cards using 1 stamp set, but changing things up by adding sentiments from another set.
The Joy Clair stamps are so versatile that combining them is effortless.Blessings1

For my first card I randomly stamped the umbrellas over a piece of white cardstock. I added coloured using watercolour paint and added a layer of shimmer using a glimmer pen.

Blessings5

I chose the colours for the umbrellas from the washi tapes that I used.

Blessings3

For my second card I stamped the umbrellas down the side of a white panel, adding colour in the same way.

Blessings2

Here i used a sentiment stamped from the Easter Blessings stamp set combined with the Spring Stroll stamp set.

Blessings6

Combining different sentiments from different stamps sets is so easy working within the Joy Clair family.

Blessings4

Until next time – I hope you are inspired to pull out those stamps and get creative!

How to create gold foil accents using your stencils

If you haven’t gotten your hands on the TCW Tacky when dry gel medium then you are missing out.
This amazing product can be used with your stencils to create amazing foiled effects.

For this layout I used my Hello Sunshine stencil and my Louann stencil for the dots.
I used the tacky when dry gel applied through the stencils and left to dry for about 30minutes.
Then used my Couture Creations Hot foil, place the foil on top of the gel, burnish with my bone folder and then carefully remove the foil to reveal the foiled stenciled images.TellTheBeesJN_SinglePage

This range of papers come with gorgeous stamps as well.

detail1JN

Fussy cut flowers in a gold metallic paper look amazing with all the gold elements.

detail2JN

More stamped elements combined with gold glass glitter.

detail7JN

Gold foiled stencil work on old book paper look amazing.

detail4JN

This layout was created with left-over papers from a double page layout I created. I lvoe using all my scraps to create with, not wasting anything.

Paper and products available from The Funky Llama South Africa.

Stenciled tag using expanding mousse

If you are not subscribed to the Short Cuts Craft News letter then you probably missed this tag I created for them using my Moroccan Tile Stencil and Expanding Mousse.EM3JN

The background was an old one I created using Tsukineko Dye ink reinkers and just worked on top of that for a stunning end result.

EM1JN

Simply apply the mousse through a stencil and heat using a heat gun to create a stunning texture and end result.
TIP: Use a good heat gun with lots of heat for a good result, the smaller slower heat guns don’t work as well.

EM2JN

EM4JN

I finished off the tag with a few random bits and pieces from my table and some fun heritage people from Tim Holtz.

EM7JN

EM6JN

I also added some gold and silver Distress Crayon touches around the people – and look ow amazingly they sit on top of the mousse and add shimmer.

EM5JN

The Expanding Mousse and Metallic Distress Crayons were kindly sponsored to me by TroCraft South Africa. All other products used are my own.

Milk Carton boxed with Butterfly Garden

Jowilna on the blog today with the gorgeous Butterfly Garden range of papers. I fell in the love the moment I saw this range and knew that I would love it.
The soft colours and beautiful details make this range perfect for most projects. I chose to create some boxes this time around with the new Scoring Board released.
And in a few minutes I created these beautiful boxes because I had amazing tools.

milkcarton boxes_mainJN
Step 1 – Cut your Butterfly Garden patterned paper 06A to measure 10,5×7″.

step1

step 2 – Place the paper on the score board and score the following lines as per the diagram.
Vertically on the short side at: 2,5″, 5″, 6,5″
Horizontally on the long side at: 2,5″, 5″, 7,5″ and 10″
step2

1000w

step 3 – Once all the scoring is done, use your bone folder to burnish all the lines and fold them.
step5

step 4 – Trim away the bottom edge spine area using your scissors.
step6

step 5 – Continue along the bottom and cut into the fold lines to the first horizontal scoreline only.
step7

step 6 – Start assembling the box. Add a thin line on adhesive on the thin spine area and adhere. Then add tape or adhesive to the bottom flaps and seal the box at the bottom.
step8

step 7 – Pinch the top edge inwards to create the seal at the top. Now decorate your box with the embellishment pack.
step9

Seal the box with a little peg after filling it with chocolates or a small gift that is not too heavy. Decorate the front of your box and add ribbon and other elements as desired.
This box is a slight adjustment to the measurements to make a taller milk carton. I simply adjusted the size of my patterned paper and when scoring i made the center part longer.

Beautiful Handmade Foil Card.

You can create some amazing effects with the GoPress and Foil. Add some additional details to the foiling for an even more stunning effect!
For this card, I added some inking on top of the foiling with some amazing results.
AD3_Card_main

step 1 -Heat the Curling Motif Stamp in the GoPress and Foil.

AD3_Card_step1

step 2 – Once hot, add the green foil, cardstock and a shim. Roll the platform through the GoCut and Emboss.

AD3_Card_step3

step 3 – Remove the cardstock from the platform to reveal the hot foiled image.

AD3_Card_step4

step 4 – Stamp some wording onto a strip of cardstock using VersaFine Clair ink in brown. Trim the sentiment to fit onto the card.

AD3_Card_step5

step 5 – To add colour to my background, I misted the foiled piece with water and then sprinkled it with Walnut ink crystals and then misted again with water. Leave the ink to dry.

AD3_Card_detail4

Trim the background to fit onto the front of a folded card. Add your stamped sentiment to the middle of the foiled image. Finish off the card with an inked chipboard heart.

The inking on top of the foiling looks amazing. You could also ink before foiling the card and it will also look great. The foiled image creates a beautiful home for the sentiment to sit on.
