Art By Marlene Art Journal Page – May Flowers
Today I am sharing another Art Journal page using the gorgeous Art By Marlene Products. During the month of May we have a Flower challenge over on the FaceBook page so it is fitting that Flowers are the theme for the entire month. I have been playing around with interesting edges for a while and I loved how this edge turned out.
I have being loving interesting edges so this page was always going to have an edge using a flower stamp and cut out to form my edge. But let me tell you about how the background started.
I had a left-over piece of a large Prima rub-on and added bits and pieces onto my page. It had some colour on it with lots of bare space. Next I added a stenciled Art By Marlene Butterfly using navy blue acrylic paint. It didn’t quite go where I had envisioned it….
{here you can see my next paint peeking through on the edge of the paint – it adds so much interest to the page as well}
So I painted the entire page with a layer of white gesso. Enter the stamped Art By Marlene floral stamps on the edge of the page. I only added colour to the center image using a combination of watercolour paint, and alcohol markers.
I added a sentiment sticker and some final finishing touches using my scribble sticks, paint splatters and white acrylic paint.
I love how this page turned out – the stamped edge and the bright pink is my favorite part of this page, but the butterfly peaking through on the background has my heart.
I hope you are inspired by stamping some flowers on the edge of your pages and creating some interest – and remember to add layered of paint and ink and elements. Until next time – keeping on creating and throwing paint on a page. Jow x
