Mixed Media Cards | Pop Paint backgrounds.

Welcome to another blog post with the inspiring range of POP Paints from Chiswick.
This week I am in the mood for Mixed Media – which pretty much means I am in clean up mode and using everything on my desk
to create with. Do you have those days?detail3
Today I am sharing some cards I made using POP Paint for my backgrounds.
These cards have a fun and playful theme to them, pretty much anything goes.
The soft colours were totally inspired by the background – who says Flamingos have all the fun?
card1step 1 – Paint your white cardstock background using a single colour – I used Flamingo.
I left some open spaces and also added water to my brush to get a thinner coverage in certain places.
step1step 2 – Use a stencil and texture paste and add a pattern to the background.
step2step 3 – Add ink splats using water colours paint as well as enamel glaze. Leave the background to dry
or heat set with your heat gun.
step3step 4 – Cut circles freehand from coloured pieces of paper and patterned papers.
Add stamped images and words across the background in a random fashion.
Then use your sewing machine and sew randomly across the background in white thread.

step 5 – Cut the background into smaller squares and adhere to the front of a folded card.
step 6 – Adhere flowers and decorative clips to the front of your card. Finish off with coloured diamante.

step 7 – Use Zest POP Paint and a wooden skewer to add small coloured paint dots on your card.
How perfectly does the colour match the insides of my flowers? And it is the perfect accent colour for my design.
Finish off your cards by sewing around the outside edge.

For my second card I used another corner of my background I created and ended up with a strip of
white on the right hand side – which in its own way is perfect too.

card2Notice how the placement of the texture paste stenciled flowers at the top of the cards compliments the design perfectly.
