I haven’t done nearly as much painting as I would have like to this year, but finally got some time to tackle this little paint technique project.
It combines POP Paint in bright jewel tones with some metallic paint added for a fun and vibrant home decor item.
It’s basically a dot – that can be decorated and used in a variety of ways – or leave it as is for maximum impact against a dreary wall that needs cheering up.
It is amazing how a few layers of paint can change a single piece of wood into something gorgeous.
step 1 – Paint the top half of the circle using POP Paint in Burst (orange). One layer if plenty so that some of the wood grain can still be visible.
step 2 – Paint a layer of bright pink just below the orange and slightly overlap the orange with some dry brushed streaks.
step 3 – Next add a layer of Haze (purple) in the same manner. Overlap the pink layer above and use dry brush strokes to create interest and texture.
step 4 – Add an additional layer using Blush (light pink) paint to selected areas only. This layer was applied dry in a vertical manner, and then
a dry brush used to spread the paint horizontally. This create texture and pattern and also spread the paint out beautifully.
step 5 – Lastly add a layer of metallic blue paint over the bottom layer of paint and dry brush the colour moving into some of the other sections.
Add a layer of wax over the painted disc to seal in that goodness and add some protection for easy clean up.
