Fintastic Birthday Cards with Joy Clair

I am still loving the NEW Joya Clair stamp releases and this one is becoming a sure favourite. Does it feel like that with every stamp set? Yip pretty much. The backgrounds used for these cards were created as samples in a Gelli Printing class. How amazing are they? What did I used you ask, well I used my pigment powders to create these magical effects in my Gelli Plate.
The stamped images were stamped onto my white technique cardstock in VersaFine Clair Nocturne and coloured using alcohol based markers.
The sentiment was stamped onto scrap white off-cuts and raised using foam tape for dimension.
And those magical white spots, well those are stamped bubbles, then coloured in with bleach/jik. The bleach reacts with the colour underneath and whitens out the ink colours to reveal perfect white spots. And then I also splatted onto the background with the bleach for a gorgeous effect. The happiest little sharks wishing someone a fantastic day!
For my second card I used the same coloured backgrounds with my Gelli plate but this background has more white space visible.
If you look carefully you can actually see some yellow sun rays peeking through. This was done on scrap papers where I misted yellow Mr Huey ink through a stencil for a background. And now this background to found a new lease on life with this stunning background.
My stamped sentiment was done directly onto my coloured background also using VersaFine Clair.
The apple was glazed using dimensional glaze for a bit of shine.

Memento Dew Drop Backgrounds for cards

One of my favourite techniques is simply plain inking a background, and admittedly with all the amazing products and must-haves on the market it is one of the things we do less and less. It was time to dust off the amazing little inks and make some magic with blending backgrounds.

I used my Memento Dew Drop ink pads and blended through some Celebr8 Stencils to create 3 magical cards. It is that simple. I combined the 2 colours by first blending the one colour and then the second colour for a stunning effect. Remember to overlap your ink colours when blending for a seamless effect running into each other.

I use small circular movements to pick up my ink and to blend, to get a streak-free perfect effect.
To complete my cards, I added some simple stamped sentiments in black, a few pearls and diamante as decorations and paint splats for that fun messy effect.
These quick cards are gorgeous and as a bonus I used everything I had on hand, using ink colours that I don’t always use, and stencils that haven’t been used in a while. And a stamp set that I love but haven’t used nearly enough.

I had a play date on Sunday in my Art By Marlene art journal – just me and some time doing what I love. And this was the end result. I love the freedom, colour and design of her products – the magic that anything is possible and I can create just because.
Position a sunray stencil [Stencilled by Jow] on your journal page towards the top edge. Use a sponge to sponge yellow acrylic paint through the stencil and keep it in place. Then use orange acrylic paint to stencil partially over the yellow to create interest.
Select images from your Die-cut book to use on your page and carefully remove them. I used a girl, leaves as wings, some circles cut in half and a Protea flower.
Stamp the image BM05 twice onto smooth white cardstock using VersaFine Clair ink. Fussy cut around the images.

Add a single drop of liquid acrylic paint onto a plastic packet and mist with water. Carefully lift the packet, flip it over and stamp the acrylic onto your page. Leave to dry naturally or use a heat gun to dry and speed up the process.
Use Tombow adhesive to adhere the die-cut and stamped elements to your page as per the sample. Cut one of the stamped images in half and use at the top and bottom of your page.
Add finishing touches and details to your page. Add shadows using a graphite pencil and distress crayon around the girl image. Use a white marker to add white dots randomly across your page. Draw small white circles on the stamped images.
Use black VersaFine Clair ink pad and stamp a title onto your page.
