Inspired by the holidays that has sadly come to an end, I created this blue summer themed art journaling page.
The shades of blue and aqua makes the texture pop against a white background.
Take a look at how I created this gorgeous effect.
step 1 – Add a background using watercolour paint. Combine 2 or 3 different shades of blue.
step 2 – Stamp summer sentiment images onto smooth white cardstock using Versafine ink.
step 3 – Add color to the stamped images using watercolour paint and leave to dry.
step 4 – Mist a sheet of white cardstock using glimmer mist and leave to dry.
step 5 – Trim the misted sheet of cardstock into random strips. Adhere the strips to your watercolour painted background using gel medium.
Cut some of the misted cardstock into a wave shape. Use a small 5mm hole punch and punch random holes onto the wave shaped strip.
TIP: Keep the punched dots to adhere at a later stage.
step 6 – Adhere the stamped images.
Add a thick layer of Crackle Paint and leave to dry.
Add coloured splats to the finished page, add random stenciling in blue.
Add finishing touches using graphite pencils and chalk.
Work the crayon into the crackle parts to highlight the cracks.
And that finishes off a beautiful study in blue with loads of texture and shapes.
I love the freedom of this random summer themed art journaling page – perfect for a summers day activity.
